Sponsor a Vegetarian Student
I am writing with a request. I am with a non-profit organization that brings in students from around the world to live with American families and attend high school for 10 months. We have a mission is to foster world friendships. The reason I am writing is because each year we receive several vegetarian students. Many times, in Texas, those students live in non-vegetarian homes and prepare their own meals. I am hoping to find vegetarian families willing to host student, so that these students will have an easier stay here in America. When they come to our country they are adjusting to cultural changes, language, a new school and a new family. I think it would be such a blessing to these students if they were able to live in a home where they did not have to also adjust to a new diet or to cooking for themselves.
Families can be single or married with young children, no children, teenagers or grown children,... anyone willing to share their home and heart with a student from around the world can be considered a good potential host family.
Host families agree to provide a bed and meals for the student. The student is covered 100% by medical insurance and brings their own spending money for entertainment, school activities and supplies, hot lunch at school, personal items, etc... The student can share a bedroom with a host sibling of the same sex if they are within 5 years age difference, but must have their own bed to sleep in.
I am hoping you can pass this email on to other people in your vegetarian group or in some way communicate our need to your group. I am available to answer questions any time. My contact information is below. I have been having been having some problem with my 800# and I'm trying to get it resolved, so if it doesn't work, please call my cell phone or email me.
I have included 2 bios of vegetarian students who are assigned to this area and currently need host homes to travel to America in August. Students will stay through the end of the school year and attend the local high school in the family's school district. You can click or copy/paste the link to see information about the student. If you double click on the student's picture, you will be taken to a letter they wrote to tell the family more about themselves.
This link will take you to the bio for Anna from Austria. Her high school studies focus on languages and her test score indicates that she has very strong English skills. She was involved in girl scouts and is now learning to play saxophone. She is also interested in photography, baking and reading:
