Jimbo’s Heroes Ride Again won the 2006 Texas Team Championship, held Jan. 21-22 in San Antonio. The team, named in tribute to the late Jim Gallagher, consisted of Selby Anderson, Jim Rohrbaugh, John Patty and J.P. Hyltin. Together they scored 3.5 out of 4 match points, drawing the last round match with Austin’s Three Invincible Masters and One Young Champion. (Mikhail Langer, Michael Feinstein, Richard Ketcham, and Alexander Balkam). Second place went to the young Houston team which gave the Austin team its only loss, 1.h4 (Francisco Guadalupe II, Warren Harper, Brad Sawyer, and Kevin Wang), with 3 out of 4 match points.
Four teams tied for 1st-2nd Under 1900: Jesse James Gang Rides Again (Gregg Stanley, Martin Gordon, Jesse Lozano, Rheanna English), Furios Four (William Molina, Yuri Mirgorodsky, Jeff Sneden, Scott Slade), Knights of the Square Table (Angela Alston, Julian Hernandez, Matthew Liu, Richard Lopez, Charles Haring), and They Might Be Midgets (Paul Chaplin, Eugene Kohnitz, Danny Chen, Dylan James). The trophy goes to James Gang by a wide point margin (10+!) using the US Amateur Team tiebreaks.
$1,000 was paid in prizes, with trophies for the top team
in each section. Martin Gordon directed a field of ten teams for the San
