Herbert Boase was born March 19, 1875 in Vellanoweth, Cornwall, the son of Henry and Mary Boase of Vellanoweth.
In 1891 he came to Pennsylvania where he worked some years in the anthracite coal mines and preached for a year and a half in a mission in Pittsburgh.
In 1904 he graduated from Taylor University at Upland, Indiana, and in that year he received his first appointment in the North Indiana conference.
In 1928 he was made an honorary Doctor of Divinity at Taylor University.
