Death Penalty Art Show |

Justice For All?

Recently, the Texas Moratorium Network put together an art show for artists to reflect on the death penalty. The show called Justice For All, invited artists from all over the world including the death row inmates, to exhibit their art work. One inmate entered his art, Vincent Gutierrez, callaborating with another inmate, Travis Runnels, for their work titled Untitled. The Death Penalty Art Show had a panel of judges that issued awards in various categories. Categories like "Best in Show" and "Merit Awards" were given out to the artists the judges chose. Gutierrez did not receive an award, at the very least the award of life. Gutierrez is due to be executed March 27, 2007.

Artists. They come from all walks of life. Your neighborhood, your social class, your educational level, even your family. But when does one determine what art is? Is there a set of rules, schooling, experience? The process the artist uses to create their masterpieces, and their passion for doing them are what determines art, are what determines great art!
