- Arte Vanidad is an on-line art gallery designed by local San Antonio artist Kristina Suniga.
All the works in this site are originals. The collection ranges from paintings, charcoals, to computer art.
Arte Vanidad translates to 'vain art.' Art should be vain, people should be proud of their art
work. My main goal as an artist is to communicate my experiences to you the viewer via this website.
I believe as an artist that a lot of our work stems from how, where, and with whom we were raised.
My work is rooted in my beliefs, my understandings and my experiences as a whole.
This is an art gallery that I hold dear and true to me. These paintings and drawings have made their way to
different parts of the United States.
When visiting an art gallery what in your mind holds true about the displayed art work? You think 'Wow that's art!,' for the simple fact that its in an art gallery. But what about those artists like Robert Smithson's,Spiral Jetty or Vito Acconci's Trademarks where the art isn't placed in a room or in an art gallery, but instead out of the realm of the gallery itself. Would one still consider this art? Like us artists like to say 'Art is in the eye of the beholder.' Art is what you make of it. How you put the artists ideas together in your head is simply yours. Don't get me wrong, an art gallery holds some sort of rapport to it, but it doesn't necessarily make the art, or the artist.
