Please bear with me, but at this critical time in our country's history, I MUST speak out!! My son has been to Iraq twice, other relatives have also gone, protecting our "Front Door" from the terrorists while our GOVERNMENT FAILS TO GUARD OUR BORDERS - leaving our "Back Door" not only unlocked, but WIDE OPENED! I have one question for President Bush and our Congress:  WHERE'S THE FENCE?????

(Have patience while the video loads.)

PLEASE SUPPORT GRASSFIRE.ORG IN ANY WAY YOU CAN SO WE CAN GET
THE MESSAGE TO CONGRESS AND THE PRESIDENT:  NO AMNESTY,
NO ANYTHING! GET THE FENCE BUILT!!!

Please help encourage former Senator Fred Thompson to run for President. Help and support him in any way you can!

Scott in Iraq

Heroes Turn up the sound and be sure to watch it to the very end, when the screen goes black except for the tiny word 'info' - then click on this link and read carefully. It's worth every second of your time that it takes to see the Heroes tribute, and read the info page. My heartfelt thanks to the author who has chosen to remain anonymous, but is shouting the most important message of our age.

Our family is very proud of our soldiers serving their country. In our family we currently have two members serving :  SCOTT - home from his 2nd tour in Iraq in December '06, now stationed with the 232nd Medical Battalion at Camp Bullis  here in San Antonio, TX, and Casey - my nephew, with the Texas National Guard. Home supporting our troops are:

my husband Frank, my daughter Jessica, my daughter-in-law and grandson, Kara and Estin, my son and daughter-in-law, Josh and  Jennifer, Nana (Connie's mom), and many other family members.

My favorite quote:

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
--John Stewart Mill--

Getting to know you-

We are all proud of our military men and women, but there is a little piece in our hearts that is screaming in terror (especially at 2am) that, while we know what must be done, we are also extremely aware of the sacrifice we may be making to complete the mission. If you are the proud relative or friend of military personnel (any branch), there are many resources to help you feel you are an important part of this operation, right alongside of your son/daughter/relative/friend.  Some of them are linked below. If these don't fit your needs, search the web, ask at your local church or veteran's association, keep looking - you'll find a way to be an important part of the War On Terror.  Above all else -
SUPPORT THE TROOPS - AND THEIR MISSION!

In honor of all the military men and women who are, or may soon be, in harm's way,
I dedicate this page to all their loved ones back home just trying to get through the night.
May God bless and keep us all.

Recommended Book of the Month (OK, months - I'm catching up a little here! But hold on - all of these books are fantastic - definite MUST READS!):
The Ezekiel Option:A Novel by Joel C. Rosenberg

Book 1 is The Last Jihad; book 2 is The Last Days, book 3 is The Ezekiel Option. This is the fourth book in the series. There are so many amazing similarities to today's headlines that Mr. Rosenberg has been called the "modern day Nostradamus" (U. S. News & World Report). Both of the first books have recently been optioned for movie deals. I can't wait!

The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis

This set has been around for many years - it was a bedtime story read for the kids when they were little. It's expensive, but if at all possible, get the hardcover set - it'll take the wear and tear better, as these books are definitely multiple read books. I just read the entire series again in anticipation of the opening of the movie, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (now on DVD). This is a must-see movie. I can't wait for the rest of the books to be made into movies - the series will rival the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Harry Potter movies.
